Film6.9Bridgette ve ablası Ginger, 15 ve 16 yaşlarında iki genç kızdırlar. Banliyöde, kısıtlı bir çevrede yaşayan ve çevrelerindeki diğer kızlardan bir hayli farklı olan kızkardeşler, yalnızlıklarını ancak birbirleri sayesinde azaltabilmektedirler. Ölümle ve karanlık ne kadar ton varsa hepsiyle ilgili olan kardeşler, komşularının köpeklerini parçalayan gizemli bir yaratık mahalleyi tehdit edince de ilgi alanlarından uzak durmazlar. Gece yarısı ormanda parçalanmış köpekleri görüntülemeye çalıştıkları bir sırada, yaratık Ginger’a da saldırır ve onu kötü şekilde yaralar. Bu badireyi böylece atlatan ve bu olayı kimseye söylemeyeye karar veren kardeşlerden Bridgette, ablasındaki yaraların olağanüstü biçimde hızla iyileştiğini fark ettiğinde çok şaşırır. Bir süre sonra yaralarından kıl tüy çıkmaya başlayan Gİnger’daki değişiklikler bununla da sınırlı kalmayacaktır.
