On a mission in Afghanistan, Marco Kroon heroically leads his men through firefights. For this he receives the highest decoration in the Netherlands: the military Order of William. In the years that followed, however, Kroon was discredited. At the same time, the soldier struggles with traumas that he cannot share even with his love Mirjam, and everyone has an opinion about him in the media and on the street.
