Vom Hirschkäfer zum Hakenkreuz (From Stag Beetle to Swastika) tells in a material-rich, associative montage of the limitless possibility of manipulating images and seducing with images. The Historionaut, a history machine, produces an incessant stream of remembered, present and future images. It helps to make connections, for example, between the strange German cultural film and the film avant-garde of La Sarraz, stag beetles and grandfathers, dark wave and cyberbugs. 
It is about fascist pseudo-Darwinism and artistic corruptibility, about cultural filmmakers who put their sometimes avant-garde narrative, film and montage techniques in the service of fascism.
