The series takes place in a dorm where six young people (four boys, two girls) live together. This House is located in district 8, number 17 or simply "W817", also known as "wait a minute" may be pronounced, hence the title. Many episodes revolve around comic situations, parodies of famous films and the occasional attention is spent on serious themes, such as aids and homosexuality. The series is often praised: the mix of sometimes very painful story lines and serious themes, yet airy held with the humor. The series of flashier, each scene transition preceded by a vooruitspoelgeluid. Each season was also concluded with an exciting Cliffhanger, so that viewers could eagerly looking forward to the new season.
