Doğaçlama oyuncusu ve komedyen Stephen Colbert, uzun zamandır beklenen televizyona dönüşünü yaparken "The Colbert Report" karakterini geride bırakıyor. New York'taki tarihi Ed Sullivan Tiyatrosu'nda kaydedilen The Late Show franchise redux'un ev sahibi olarak Colbert, aktörler, sporcular, politikacılar, çizgi romanlar, sanatçılar ve müzisyenlerle ilk kez kendisi olarak konuşuyor. Bununla birlikte, sadık hayranlar, Colbert'in eski girişiminden yazı ve dijital ekibinin birçok üyesi tarafından desteklenmeye devam ettiği için tutarlılık muamelesi görecek. Shooting Stars is a British television comedy panel game broadcast on BBC Two as a pilot in 1993, then as 3 full series from 1995 to 1997, then on BBC Choice from January to December 2002 with 2 series before returning to BBC Two for another 3 series from 2008 until its cancellation in 2011. Created and hosted by double-act Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, it uses the panel show format but with the comedians' often slapstick, surreal and anarchic humour does not rely on rules in order to function, with the pair apparently ignoring existing rules or inventing new ones as and when the mood takes them.

A review of a movie, or a restaurant, or a car—or whatever else that typically falls under a critic's domain—is all well and good, and can even be helpful at times. But how can one find out about myriad other experiences that are never tackled in reviews? Enter Forrest MacNeil, a critic who goes beyond overviews of life's more-common subjects—way beyond—to satisfy the curiosity of others: The adrenaline rush of stealing; the danger of drug addiction; the delight of sleeping with a celebrity. MacNeil tries anything suggested by viewers of his TV show, then presents a 1-to-5-star review. But his unwavering commitment to experiencing intense adventures means he must deal with the unintended consequences of such a goal.
