Roque Santeiro

In the small town of Asa Branca, altar boy Roque Santeiro supposedly died seventeen years ago defending townsfolk from the henchmen of the dangerous Navalhada. Sanctified by the people, who attribute miracles to his image, he became a legend and made the town prosper with his tale of heroism, but also raised the interest of many who took advantage of the legend to profit. However, to the despair of the powerful of Asa Branca, Roque Santeiro is not dead, and worse: he is coming back to town after seventeen years, threatening to put an end to the myth.
