Dizi7.9Türkçeye "Paranoya Ajanı" olarak çevirebileceğimiz Paranoia Agent, Satoshi Kon'un 2004 yapımı 13 bölümlük kült psikolojik gerilim anime serisidir. Tokyo'da altın rengi patenleri ve eğik beyzbol sopasıyla dolaşarak hayatlarının en bunalımlı dönemindeki insanlara saldıran "Sopalı Çocuk" (Shōnen Batto) efsanesini merkezine alan yapım; olaylar derinleştikçe bu durumun bireysel vakalardan çıkıp tüm şehre yayılan kolektif bir toplumsal histeriye ve paranoyaya dönüşmesini işleyerek modern şehir yaşamının yarattığı psikolojik baskıları, suçluluk psikolojisini ve gerçeklikten kaçış mekanizmalarını gözler önüne serer. Kane Parsons 2026 yapımı Backrooms filmini yaparken ilham kaynaklarından birinin bu anime olduğunu söylemiştir.
