Writer Gábor Náday met Ágnes in August 1944, and soon love developed between them. When Náday finds out that his love is a persecuted Jewish girl, he wants to help her. He obtains his daughter's documents, and as a father and daughter he settles in a small village in Lake Balaton. A few days later, Agnes, as Mariann Náday, is arrested for distributing an illegal press product. The writer confesses to the police, tells the truth, but in the confrontation, Agnes insists that she is Náday’s daughter.
