Bir hain mi, bir kahraman mı, yoksa her ikisi de mi? Amerikan oyun yazarı Howard W. Campbell Jr. (Nick Nolte) ve Alman bir aktris olan güzel eşi Helga (Sheryl Lee), 2. Dünya Savaşı öncesi Berlin'inde yaşamlarını sürdürmektedirler. Campbell, Amerikan ve Yahudi düşmanlığının prim yaptığı bu günlerde sözü geçen bir konuşmacı olarak ün salmıştır. Regent Horthy is the leader of Hungary and a German ally, but his favorable standing with Hitler changes as the war comes to an end.
