The only thing Dave Hughes is handy for is a laugh, which is handy given he calls himself a comedian. Hes made a handy name for himself on radio and TV as a funny man but live on stage is where Hughesy began (& continues to shine). Whats handy for you is that hes recorded his latest sell out show for you to watch from the comfort of your couch. DVD extras include an intimate club gig and candid at home footage of Hughesy and family.

While Melbourne was locked down, Dave Hughes was trending. He went viral during the pandemic and managed to get himself in trouble with pretty much everyone. Luckily, Hughesy is zen. He is at peace with the chaos he creates, knowing that from great turmoil comes even greater material. Hughesy has always attacked his comedy like a man with nothing to lose. A week hasn't gone by in the last 25 years that Hughesy hasn't done stand up, whether headlining an iconic theatre or jumping up at a tiny club. What has worried him that day becomes fodder for that night's material. To him, every audience is a great crowd and they should never forget that.

Dave Hughes Live is a rare chance to glimpse Dave Hughes in his natural environment – on stage with a mic in his hand. In his comedy DVD debut Hughesy kills, slaughters and slays the 2000 seat Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide.

From working class roots, the university drop-out and former abattoir worker has risen to become one of Australia’s most popular and successful stand-up comedians. His honesty and laconic humour have led to several long-term hosting roles on television and radio, most recently on The Project and Nova 100. However in 2014, Hughesy has returned to his first love – stand-up comedy – and is the hottest comedy act touring nationally and internationally.
