SOKO Kitzbühel is an Austrian television series produced by ORF and ZDF. It is a spin-off of the German crime series SOKO 5113. It is set in the renowned Tyrolean tourist centre of Kitzbühel. The production company "beo-Film" has produced the show since 2001. The German abbreviation SOKO stands for Sonderkommission, "special commission", a task force with specific duties.

Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöst is a German television programme broadcast since October 1967 on ZDF that aims to combat and solve crimes. Until 2003 it was produced in co-operation with the Austrian public service broadcaster ORF and Schweizer Fernsehen, a division of the Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR idée suisse. It was the basis for the BBC show Crimewatch, the Dutch show Opsporing Verzocht and its US equivalent America's Most Wanted.

August Kühn, born in 1849 as the illegitimate child of Yette Kühn and the timber merchant Lois Heß, became a worker on the construction of the new Treuchtlingen–Nuremberg railway line after finishing school. He was drafted into military service during the wars of 1866 and 1870/71. After the war, he was employed by the Royal Bavarian State Railway, where he came into contact with class-conscious workers. After some bad experiences, he joined the Social Democratic Party.

Magdalena's dark drama spans a period of six weeks. In Berghofen, a village near Dachau, live the honorable, respected small farmers Thomas Mayr, known as Paulimann, and his wife Mariann. They have been married for 37 years ("Und hat mi'koan Tag net g'reut"), but now the woman is wasting away. This is not least due to their daughter Magdalena, who moved to the big city to work as a seamstress, where she went astray and got into trouble with the law. She is now brought home in disgrace, to the jeers of the villagers. Nevertheless, on his deathbed, he promises his wife that he will not chase Leni out of the house.

After the surprising death of her mother, budding artist Josefine hastily leaves the city of Munich and moves to an old, abandoned dairy farm in the countryside. She also escapes from her friend Simon, who, contrary to his assurances, has still not separated from his wife. And Josefine finally wants to find out who her father was. Her mother had left the village and raised Josefine in the city.
