In 1963, Esther gives birth to Roland, the youngest of a large family. Roland is born with a club foot that prevents him from standing. Against everyone's advice, she promises her son that he will walk like the others and that he will have a fabulous life. From then on, Esther will do everything in her power to keep this promise. Through decades of trials and miracles of life, this film is the story of a true, funny and moving story, that of an incredible destiny and the greatest love there is: that of a mother for her child.

In one of those wonderful coincidences of history, lumière, the French word for “light,” was also the last name of brothers Auguste and Louis, whose brilliant invention, the cinematograph, helped to inaugurate the most beloved art form of the last 130 years. Institute Lumière director Thierry Frémaux uses Lumière, Le Cinema! to guide the viewer through over a hundred shorts—some famous, some forgotten, some never before seen—directed by Lumière and company. In the process, Frémaux illuminates how the brothers employed the camera as a creative instrument as they (and their operators) mastered framing, staging, and subject selection for quotidian and exotic microdocumentaries as well as the first ever fictional motion pictures. The result is not only a glorious re(telling) of the genesis of cinema but a profound meditation on the beautiful world captured—and the mysterious world imagined—by the Lumières.

A meek, mild-mannered man begins to suspect that his beautiful wife is poisoning him after he realizes that his acute stomach aches occur only after he eats at home. As a result, he investigates the death of his predecessor-- his wife's first husband.

It's peak season at Morzine-Avoriaz ski resort. French high mountain state police officer Constance Vivier and Swiss cop Andreas Meyer investigate the suspect death of a teenager, found freezing on a slope after an alcohol coma.

On his birthday, Meyer receives a curious gift: a wooden sculpture of a devil with a demonic and mischievous appearance. Meyer smiles, recognizing it as a typical art object from Bessans, a village in Savoie. He calls Constance, certain that she sent him the devil for his birthday. But he's in for a nasty surprise: not only did Constance not know it was his birthday, but she's also dealing with a frozen corpse found on the French side of the border, locked in an isolated chapel in the mountains. In the victim's backpack is a carved wooden devil. It's not a murder per se, but how can anyone be sure? Did the victim lock himself in by accident, or did the door close and then jam shut after a gust of wind? Having received the same devil, Meyer decides to get involved in the investigation...

In Metropolitan France, the newscasts are presented at 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00, with newsflashes at 6:30 and 8:50, and two press reviews at 7:20 and 8:30. "Chez Maupassant" is a French anthology television series based on short stories by Guy de Maupassant. Created by Gérard Jourd'hui and Gaëlle Girre, it ran on France 2 in three seasons in 2007, 2008 and 2011. It consists of a total of 24 episodes of which half are 60 minutes long and half are 30 minutes.
