Mario Bava’nın A Bay of Blood filmi, slasher türünün öncüsü kabul edilen bir İtalyan korku klasiğidir. 1971 yapımı bu film, 13 karakterin vahşi şekillerde öldürülmesini konu alarak, Halloween (1978) ve Friday the 13th (1980) gibi filmlere ilham vermiştir. Basit bir konuya sahip olan film, bir koyu satın almak isteyenler ile orada yaşayanlar arasındaki cinayetler zincirini işler. Bava’nın sanat geçmişi, filmin görsel estetiğine yansırken, su altındaki cesede yapışan ahtapot gibi unutulmaz sahneler sunar. Film, dönemine göre oldukça kanlı ve yaratıcı ölüm sahneleriyle dikkat çeker. Bugün biraz eskimiş görünse de enerjisi ve korku sinemasına katkıları açısından hala büyük bir önem taşımaktadır.
