Eugene “Houdi” McCabe is a Northern Irish actor and writer from Clones, County Monaghan, now based in Portrush, County Antrim. After a 42-year career as a branch manager with Dunnes Stores, he turned to acting and writing full-time following his retirement. McCabe has built an extensive body of work across independent film, theatre and literary performance, appearing in more than thirty films and plays. His screen credits include *Magpie*, *Spersey Smike*, *Static*, *The Lockdown Run*, *Petyr*, *The Hunter* and *Dark Disquiet*, among numerous other independent productions. Alongside acting, McCabe is an active writer whose stories have appeared in national and international publications, with some adapted for short films. He regularly performs his writing at literary events including TENX9, Soundwaves Portrush, Pub Poetry Causeway Coast, First Drams NI and Flash Fiction Armagh, and contributes the “Storytime with Houdi” series to Slugger O'Toole. His work combines acting, storytelling and live performance, reflecting a distinctive second career built around his long-standing passion for writing and the arts.
