A film editor receives a proposal to edit a new film without knowing that he is going to become so obsessed with the project that he will do whatever it takes to save the protagonist from her death in the story.

Santiago is a struggling screenwriter who finds his muse, a woman he names “Raquel,” in the building across the street. His inspiration is pushed to the limit when he must choose between writing about Raquel or saving her from dying.

The story follows the Castaño Gil family, a prosperous cattle ranching family marked by the kidnapping and murder of patriarch José Castaño by the guerrilla. This event triggers the decision of brothers Fidel, Vicente, and Carlos to form a self-defense army to fight the guerrillas, intensifying the armed conflict in Colombia. However, what seemed like a unified struggle is threatened by betrayal.
