Éva, the naive girl, flees World War II and the gendarmes with her sister Mária in 1944, but they quickly realize that the real danger is Imre and his housekeeper Eszter. Darker secrets come to the surface within the walls of the Oradea mansion. What happens when Imre promises not only protection, but also death? Jealousy, betrayal, escape and self-sacrifice, faith in the Creator and a piece of chocolate. Years later, his dark past catches up with the man in London. In 1975, a young girl, Elizabeth, reveals Imre's crimes, and the lies collapse. The story is unsparing and only one question remains: How does the horrors of war turn a man into a tyrant without hope and love?
