Genç Claressa Shields, oğlanlarla dövüşmek için can atarak bir boks salonuna gizlice girer. Yerel gönüllü koç Jason Crutchfield, onu hemen himayesine alır. Claressa inanılmaz yetenekli olduğunu kanıtlar ancak Crutchfield kısa süre sonra onu yolda tutmak için bir koçun görevlerinin ötesine geçmek zorunda kalır çünkü sadece kazanmanın baskısını değil, aynı zamanda Flint, Michigan'daki sıkıntılı memleketinin onun dayanıklılığında umut arayan bakışlarını da hissetmeye başlar.

The film centres on a family from Rwanda, who are reestablishing their lives after moving to Ottawa, Ontario as refugees, with Akai being forced to step up and take care of his younger sister Zera after their mother's health takes an unexpected decline.

Dylan takes on a new career - Doctor, Pizza Chef, Hair Stylist, Sea Captain - and invites his friends Ozzy, Daisy, Bitsy, and the viewers at home to play along with him.
