Alman edebiyatçı Goethe'nin ilham kaynağı olan aşk hikâyesini konu alan film, Johann Goethe'nin babası tarafından küçük bir kasabaya gönderilmesiyle başlıyor. Johann, burada sıkı çalışarak amiri Kestner ile arkadaş olur. Güzel ve çekici bir kız olan Lotte'ye âşık olunca ayakları yerden kesilir. Ancak Kestner'in de Lotte'ye olan ilgisi hepsinin hayatlarını tersyüz edecektir.

Ralf Prange lives on the ground floor and is at home all day. This makes him the perfect "branch" for the whole building. Stacks of boxes and parcels from his neighbors pile up in his tiny apartment. The film paints a picture of two young women caught between their own insecurity and their desire for a connection and a place in the world.

No one takes the clumsy Max Klopstock seriously. Even the gluttonous goat makes fun of him. Max wants to prove his worth to his father and lovely Lotte. So he packs his knapsack and heads out into the world like his older brothers Emil and Joeckel did.

The sun is setting on couples Rico and Eva and Friedrich and Julia's forest road trip. Tight bonds have formed across the group, none more so than between free-spirited Rico and vertical thinker Friedrich, who is coming to terms with a side of his sexuality that had previously remained in the shadows. As the foursome drink, party, swim and while away the hours by a picturesque lake, the food supplies dwindle, and the sheen starts to come off their idyllic escape.

The spin-off to the original series 'In aller Freundschaft' focuses on the young doctors in a fictional clinic in Erfurt. In this emotional drama series, hospital staffers and patients navigate life's challenges.
