A struggling writer in 1930s Soviet Moscow finds his life transformed when a mysterious professor arrives with his bizarre entourage, including a wisecracking trickster, a deadly assassin, a vampire maid, and a giant talking black cat, turning the city upside down while exposing the hypocrisy of those in power.

The film is inspired by the record-breaking solo trip around the globe in a hot-air balloon made by the world-famous Russian explorer Fedor Konyukhov in July of 2016. Throughout his remarkable life, Konyukhov has proven time and time again that willpower, perseverance and faith can help overcome fear and doubt, and lead a person to triumph.

The heroes of the almanac's stories are students who studied at the same institute in the 90s and lived together in a dormitory. Then many people left, their paths diverged and their lives turned out differently, but they did not lose touch and still communicate, help each other and share common problems. Fellow students meet 20 years later on the anniversary of their favorite teacher. But how many things will happen before this meeting…
