Güzelliğiyle dört cihana nam salan Kleopatra ile kendini beğenmiş Sezar, Mısır halkı üzerine karşıt görüşlere sahiplerdir. Kleopatra Mısırlıların en az Romalılar kadar kültürlü ve değerli bir medeniyet olduğunu öne sürerken Sezar bunu hiçbir şekilde kabul etmemektedir. Kleopatra bunun üzerine Sezar'ı büyüleyecek bir saray yaptırmaya karar verir. Üç ay gibi imkansız bir sürede bitmesi gereken saray inşaatı için Mimar Temelius görevlendirilir. Bu imkansız görevi tamamlamak için Temelius'un, Asteriks, Oburiks ve Büyüfiks'in yardımlarına ihtiyacı olacaktır.

Galya’nın bu en sevdiğimiz köyünde maceralar tüm hızı ile devam ediyor. Köyün şefinin ağabeyi, oğlu Kuduriks’i cesur bir savaşçı yapması için köye bırakınca Şef’in aklına, bu gölgesinden bile korkan çocuğu yetiştirmek için tek bir fikir gelir. Kuduriks’i, en cesur savaşçıları Asteriks ve Hopdediks’e teslim edecektir. Gel gelelim, diğer yandan, kendilerini çok cesur olarak gören Vikingler de, korkma duygusunun nasıl bir şey olduğunu öğrenebilmek için denize açılırlar. Bir gün yolları Asteriks’in köyüne düştüğünde, kendilerine korkmayı öğretecek kişiyi bulmuşlardır: Kuduriks! Galyalılar zorlu görevleri başarıyla tamamlarlarsa kendisi yenilgiyi kabul edecek, ancak tamamlayamazlarsa Sezar"ın büyük gücünü ve öfkesini onlara hissettirecektir. Sezar ve danışmanları, bir zamanlar Herkül"ün başardıklarına benzer birbirinden tehlikeli ve zor yeni 12 görev tasarlarlar. Galya köyünden bu zorlu yarışmada onları temsil etmek için iki kişi seçilir: En zekileri Asteriks ve en güçlüleri Hopdediks...
