Lincoln Uluslararası Havaalanı, şiddetli kar fırtınası altında mücadele ederken iki kriz birden patlak verir. Uçuş operasyon müdürü Mel Bakersfeld, havaalanını çalışır halde tutmaya çalışırken özel hayatındaki sorunlarla boğuşmaktadır. Aynı anda, Trans Global Airlines'ın bir uçağında patlayan bomba, uçağın kontrolünü tehlikeye atar. Pilot Kaptan Vernon Demerest ve hostes Gwen Meighen, hasarlı uçağı indirmek için mücadele eder. Havaalanı personeli, pisti açmak ve uçağın güvenli inişini sağlamak için zamanla yarışırken, kaçak yolcu rolündeki Helen Hayes'in performansı filme komik bir dokunuş katar. Felaket anlarındaki insan direnci ve profesyonel sorumlulukların çarpışmasını konu alan film, aynı adlı romandan uyarlanmıştır ve 1970'lerin felaket filmleri modasını başlatan klasiklerdendir. Helen Hayes, filmdeki rolüyle En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Oyuncu Oscar'ını kazanmıştır.

The plot remains substantially the same, as an amorous sailor named Dynamite (Lew Ayres) bets his pals that he can "thaw" icy beauty-contest winner Billie (Mary Carlisle). What follows is a series of misunderstandings, arguments and reconciliations, all wrapped up in a happy-ever-after conclusion.
