Lee Strasberg
Oyuncu · 1901 – 1982 · Budzanów, Austria-Hungary
Israel "Lee" Strasberg, 17 Kasım 1901 tarihinde Budaniv, Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorluğu'nda (günümüzde Ukrayna) Yahudi bir ailenin çocuğu olarak dünyaya gelmiştir. Yedi yaşındayken ailesiyle birlikte Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'ne göç ederek New York'un Lower East Side bölgesine yerleşti. Ancak 73 yaşındayken, eski öğrencisi Al Pacino'nun ısrarıyla Francis Ford Coppola'nın başyapıtı "Baba II" (The Godfather Part II) (1974) filminde oynamayı kabul etti. Bu filmde canlandırdığı hasta ve manipülatif mafya babası Hyman Roth rolü, ona En İyi Yardımcı Erkek Oyuncu dalında Oscar adaylığı getirdi. İlerleyen yıllarda "Cassandra Geçidi" (The Cassandra Crossing) (1976) ve "...Ve Herkes İçin Adalet" (...And Justice for All) (1979) gibi yapımlarda da rol aldı. Mirasını kurumsallaştırmak adına New York ve Los Angeles'ta Lee Strasberg Tiyatro ve Film Enstitüsü'nü kurdu. Lee Strasberg, 17 Şubat 1982 tarihinde New York'ta 80 yaşında geçirdiği kalp krizi sonucu hayatını kaybetmiştir.

Film5.8KomediMüzikThe most glittering, expensive, and exhausting videotaping session in television history took place Friday February 19, 1982 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The event, for which ticket-buyers paid up to $1,000 a seat (tax-deductible as a contribution to the Actors' Fund) was billed as "The Night of 100 Stars" but, actually, around 230 stars took part. And most of the audience of 5,800 had no idea in advance that they were paying to see a TV taping, complete with long waits for set and costume changes, tape rewinding, and the like. Executive producer Alexander Cohen estimated that the 5,800 Radio City Music Hall seats sold out at prices ranging from $25 to $1,000. The show itself cost about $4 million to produce and was expected to yield around $2 million for the new addition to the Actors Fund retirement home in Englewood, N. J. ABC is reputed to have paid more than $5 million for the television rights.

Film6.1AksiyonSuçRemake of "To Have and Have Not" based on Hemingway short story. Plot reset to early days of Cuban revolution. A charter boat skipper gets entangled in gunrunning scheme to get money to pay off debts. Sort of a sea-going film noir with bad girl, smarmy villain, and the "innocent" drawn into wrong side of law by circumstances.
