In 1750 Austria, a deeply religious woman named Agnes has just married her beloved, but her mind and heart soon grow heavy as her life becomes a long list of chores and expectations. Fresh out of a psychiatric hospital, Pia moves back in with her parents to get her life together. Torn between a new job, lovesickness, psychotropic drugs and social stigmatization, she emerges into a world where everything seems out of control.

While Germany in 1834 is simmering in every corner, the resistance led by Georg Büchner is working on the revolution. Heinrich Furrer secretly prints Büchner‘s revolutionary leaflet “Der Hessische Landbote“ in his brother Gustav‘s printing House, thus supporting the revolutionaries. Heinrich loves Minna. She wants to go to America!… and he‘s supposed to come with her. Everything could be so simple if Heinrich weren‘t living with Agnes, a former prostitute, if he had the necessary money and Minna wasn‘t married to his brother Gustav.

Sarah, a former professional kickboxer from Vienna, accepts an offer to work as a personal trainer for a rich family in the Middle East. Helene (86) and Toni (70) are completely different. One is planned and well-timed, the other impulsive and spontaneous. As an unlikely team, they embark on a journey to Switzerland for euthanasia. But their road trip through the mountains turns out differently than planned.

The German ex-top model candidate Luna imagined it completely differently. She stands at the train station in Linz with all her luggage because she was promised a place in an influencer shared apartment. But Luna has too few clicks, too few followers and too little fame, which is why she's thrown out of the shared apartment before she's even been inside. Things are also going differently than expected for programmer Heribert, because he actually wanted to present the app idea at a pitching contest at Ars Electronica Center that would free him and his development team from his boring help desk job. But his pitch is at first pathetic, then embarrassing and ends in a faux pas with a shitstorm. And so he and his colleagues are thrown out before they can even develop. When the completely inexperienced but fearless would-be influencer Luna Heribert discovers first in the viral video and then in real life in Linz, she makes him an offer because she knows: we are better together than alone!

The novel “Fitness” by anarchic poet Stefanie Sargnagel is to be made into a film. The only condition on the part of film funding: Sargnagel should play herself. Surfacing alongside the author are numerous actors from the Viennese cultural landscape in cameo appearances to satirically dissect the Austrian culture industry and its mechanisms.
