The fictionalized story of the Italian national soccer team at the 1934 World Cup and focuses, in particular, on the story of Attilio Ferraris, a soccer player who was called up by the Italian national team’s head coach, Vittorio Pozzo, against the will of the fascist regime—and who repaid him with outstanding performances that culminated in the victory of the Rimet Cup.
