O dönemlerde, en yakın arkadaşı Mômone ile sokaklarda şarkı söyleyerek para kazanıyordu. Bu sırada bir kabare işleten Leplée tarafından keşfedildi ve kısa sürede, onu meşhur edecek çevre içine girdi. Genç yaşta yakalandığı hastalık ve bağımlılıkların, henüz 40 yaşındayken onu 70 yaşında bir kadın haline dönüştürdüğü, yürüme, konuşma ve şarkı söyleme yetisini kaybettiği süreci tüm çıplaklığı ile gözler önüne seriyor.
