A respectable woman in her 50s inherits a local night club from her husband in a divorce settlement, provided that she shows up there every night at 10:00pm for a month. In spite of eny and provocation, she manages to meet the terms.

A small banking family is put to the test: Brigitte, the wife of the banker Sparrenberg, has a secret: she was once the lover of the fraudster Baron Gaffris, who once used her to get close to well-off businessmen. Now Gaffris is trying to use her to trick her husband. After a fight between Brigitte and Gaffris, Brigitte’s daughter Ina seeks out the baron in an attempt to help her mother. Afterwards, the baron’s suddenly found dead on the floor. Brigitte takes all the blame, goes to the cops and admits to having stabbed Gaffris.

As Germany's fortunes in the latter part of World War II wane, several young boys, in their enthusiasm to do something "for the fatherland", volunteer to fight with the German army in the East. Horrified at the news that their children left for the Russian front, the boys' mothers begin a desperate effort to get their sons back.

Emil, a technical draftsman, is hardworking, always helpful, and somewhat shy. Because of these traits, he is often taken advantage of by those around him. Miss Annemarie Tessmer is a clerk in the house of the manufacturer Herman Schilling and she is indispensable. She is exploited by all the family members and her own life is completely in the background. Herman Schilling wants his daughter Thea merry with the representative for foreign affairs Dr. Richard Rauch. However, after a number of dramatic complications, Richard chooses for the good, selfless and hardworking Annemarie.

Peter Kolle, a low-level clerk, and his wife Sabine have a happy marriage, but Peter lacks the necessary funds. Therefore, he secretly works on his invention at a friend's house at night. When his wife finds out, she angrily leaves their apartment and travels to Berlin to see her brother Alphons, to whom Peter had promised at their wedding that he would give up on the invention and to whom he had therefore given all the paperwork. Soon, they both long for each other again: Sabine travels home, Peter to Berlin. And eventually, they meet.

A seductive dancer (Marika Rökk) helps her uncle to fight against the closing of his casino. Through her feminine charm she achieves diplomatic success.
