  Noel’den birkaç gün önce Matthias, Almanya’da bir mezbahadaki işinden ayrıldıktan sonra Transilvanya’daki çok etnikli köyüne döner. Babası Otto artık hasta ve yalnız olduğundan, onu görmeden büyüyen oğlu Rudi için endişe duymaktadır ve eski sevgilisi Csilla ile tekrar görüşmek ister. Bir anda konuşmayı bırakan çocuğun korkularını yenmesine yardımcı olmak ister. Csilla’nın çekip çevirdiği fırın, birkaç göçmen işçiyi işe almaya karar verdiğinde toplumun huzuru kaçar. Hüsranlar, çatışmalar ve tutkular yeniden su yüzüne çıkarak toplumdaki huzur görüntüsünü bozar.
