The young NKVD associate Athanathiys Lapin by the accident caused the falling of Leader's portrait, the portrait of Joseph Stalin, while settling down at the new place. When he gets into such situation, he adjoins the system for real, becoming a part of what he didn't even expect.

This fairy tale tells about famous Ukrainian warriors Cossacks, about Paradise and hell, Christmas and evil forces. The Devil makes an agreement with St. Peter. If he can capture the best Cossack warrior and hold him until Christmas night, he will be able to wipe all the Cossacks off the map. The script for the movie is based on Sashko Lirnyk's story "About an old Cossack, a Christmas devil, four horns and a Cossacks".

Motherly love has no limits. When a son is in danger, the mother does not hesitate to rush to his aid. For the sake of saving the child, she is ready to do anything. She even is ready to go through the hell of war. When Sofia finds out that a transport plane, the pilot of which is her son, was shot down, she sets off for the front line. Her journey is full of dangers. She does not know whether her son or any other member of the crew survived. She has no friends there on the unfamiliar territory, no helpers, no clear plan. There is only her willpower. But it is her will and love that help her to find people who begin to sympathize and help her, and thereby change themselves. A dangerous journey turns her from the mother of one pilot into the mother of all who need to be saved, who need the spiritual rebirth. She is ready to come for even those whom she considered an enemy.

Short story which describes that each of us has weaknesses, against which our conscience stands. And all of us always or rarely tries to agree with it. This life dilemma is understandable and close to everyone. The film gives an opportunity to viewers to look at yourself from the side and, causing them a smile, maybe, to reconsider their relationship with conscience in something. The film is embodied in the genre of tragicomedy on the verge of farce, will be interesting to the general public as well as to the experienced viewer.

Inspired by the events around the life of Lev Rebet, Ukrainian author and editor-in-chief of the Munich-based exile newspaper "Ukrainian Independist", the film portrays the fates of the Ukrainian diaspora in the past and present.
