Donusa is a small island in the Aegean, visited by the mainline ship once a week. One winter day a young German photographer, Stefan, arrives and soon feels strangely attracted to a local girl called Eleni. The stranger’s presence works as a catalyst shedding light on Donusa’s conventions.

An elderly collector, Agathon, leaves his servant Nikos a map of an area where an extremely rare ancient statue is buried. Nikos, in turn, wanting to mislead the members of a gang who are watching him closely, assigns a young couple of private detectives, Alekos and Danae, who are constantly arguing with each other, to bring him the statue. Disguised as Catholic nuns, they go to the place indicated on the map, on an island, and stay at the hotel. There, they do not escape the attention of Miss Soula, a tenant with a keen nose, find the statue, escape from the gang that is following them, and return to Agathon's villa, where they are surprised to discover that the collector is still alive.

Two sisters, each for their own reasons must separate from their partner. They live in the same apartment building, together with their children. Slowly but surely they lay the foundations for their new life. Through the love that unites them, the female solidarity, their own perspective on things, they face the problems of everyday life. What's more, they discover little by little how strong they are and their true selves.
