Wreaths at the Foot of the Mountain is a 1984 Chinese film about the life of the soldiers in a PLA army company before, during and after the Sino-Vietnamese War.

On the day of their golden anniversary, a couple leave a long note to all their children and board a train. They are going back to the place where they first met each other. They are going to celebrate the golden jubilee by themselves, for themselves.

After her groom is killed in a bandit ambush, a young peasant bride must move into the home of her wealthy mother-in-law, Madame Liu. In a perverse tribute to her fallen son, Madame Liu imposes on her new daughter-in-law a life of domestic servitude. In the midst of her misery, the young widow finds new romance with another peasant, the gentle and brave Kui. But when Madame Liu discovers her infidelity, she vows to keep the lovers apart.

The film illustrates classical Beijing Opera in different generations and the boy’s process of growing-up.

Set in the 30's Shandong Province, China, this film shows story of a young couple. The husband devotes himself to the revolution, and the wife takes care of the whole family and goes through a lot of difficulties.
