Gábor Reisz’ın Venedik Film Festivali’nde ödüllendirilen son filmi Macaristan’daki son derece politik ve güncel bir çatışmadan yola çıkarak benzer bir durumu ele alıyor. Budapeşte’de yaz mevsimidir. Liseli Abel yıl sonu sınavlarına odaklanmaya çalışırken en yakın arkadaşı Janka’ya umarsızca âşık olduğunu fark eder. Çalışkan Janka kendince, evli tarih öğretmeni Jakab’a vurulmuştur. Jakab ise Abel’in muhafazakâr babasıyla kavgalıdır. Abel’in girdiği tarih sınavı, öğretmenleriyle atışmasının ardından duyulunca önemsiz gibi görünen bu tartışma tüm ülkeyi sarsan bir skandala dönüşecektir. “Bence normal, insani iletişim durursa, hiç kimse kendini geliştiremez. Sonuçta yaşanabilir bir toplumun temellerinden biridir bu” diyor yönetmen Reisz.

On the eve of departure for the summer holiday with his wife Vera, Kristóf unexpectedly discovers black mold on the wall behind their closet. Overwhelmed with the situation and convinced it is caused by a water leak somewhere in the building, he begins knocking on his neighbours' doors in search of its origin. What seems like a simple maintenance issue soon spirals into a tragicomic housing revolution, forcing Kristóf to confront not only a crumbling apartment block but also the deeper cracks running through contemporary Hungarian society.

1979. Gábor H. works in a law enforcement institution. He robs a bank branch, gets into jail. 1989. Gábor H. and the similarly unemployed Sanyi want to get money by robbing.

The roads leading out of the city are closed. There is a curfew. Dead bodies litter the deserted streets. Shops are empty. So are many houses, because their inhabitants fled while they could. Matthew has stayed behind to care for his sick mother, who is suffering from some mysterious illness. One day, the unexpected happens: Matthew's long-lost father, who had left the family, turns up. He wants to get his son out of the town, whose days are numbered.
