İlacı kullananlar, birkaç dakika içinde birkaç saat yaşayabileceklerdir. Ren ve meslektaşları, ilacı piyasaya sürmek için zamanla yarışırken, hükümet de ilacın hapishanelerin aşırı kalabalıklaşmasına karşı radikal bir çözüm amacıyla kullanmasına karar verir. İlaç sayesinde suçlular, sadece birkaç saniye içerisinden sanal hücreler yaratacaktır. Bu sayede suçlular, sanal hapishanelerde birkaç dakika içerisinde cezalarını çekip ıslah olabilecektir. Ancak bu durum sanıldığı kadar iyi sonuçlar doğurmaz.
