Bu üç adam, II. Dünya Savaşı sonunda yaşadıkları kente geri dönerler; başarılı bankacı Al, güvenli yaşamına; eskiden bir garson olup savaşta hava kuvvetlerinde yüzbaşılığa yükselmiş Fred, savaş sırasında evlendiği ve pek iyi tanımadığı eşiyle endişe veren kavuşmaya; eskiden öğrenci olup savaşta kollarını kaybeden Homer ise, sevgilisinin sakatlığına vereceği tepki konusundaki şüphelerine.
