İngiltere’nin asırlardır demir yumrukla yönettiği İrlanda’da 6 gün süren ve tarihe 1916 Dublin Posta Binası Kuşatması olarak geçen olaydan kurtulan tek isyancı, aslen ABD vatandaşı olan İrlanda kökenli Eamon De Valera olur. Diğer destekçilerinin çoğu hapsi boylamıştır. İçerden yeni fikirlerle çıkan Michael Collins, direnişte yeni bir yaklaşıma ihtiyaç olduğunu düşünmektedir. Dava arkadaşı Harry Boland ile birlikte İrlandalı Gönüllüler hareketini başlatır. Fact-based story about Irish crime-investigating reporter Sinead Hamilton, who invaded the Irish underworld and attempted to expose the illegitimate activities she found. Hampered by the system, a police consort is ineffectual at aiding her despite trying to step outside of the normal bounds. Kevin McNally plays her husband, who hates her activities and the danger in which she places herself. Nonetheless, he grudgingly admires her persistence and encourages her investigation.

Directed by Tiernan MacBride, this short film – nominated for a Palme d’Or in 1978 for Best Short Film – is a visual representation of the Irish folk song Arthur McBride and The Sergeant, played and sung by Irish singer Paul Brady. The lyrics tell the story of Arthur McBride (Paul Bennett) and his cousin (Paul Wilson) who fight off a recruiting sergeant (Godfrey Quigley) when he tries to enlist them in the British army.
