Malhação is a Brazilian television series for the teenage audience. The soap started in 1995, and was set in a fictional Gym Club called Malhação on Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Through the years the location varied slightly. Although the name of the soap remains the same, it is now set in the Múltipla Escolha High School.

The story follows Manuela and Isabela, twin sisters separated at birth who grow up in very different worlds. It is based on the radio serial of the same name written by Janete Clair, which was also adapted into the 1969 telenovela Véu de Noiva by TV Globo. Created and adapted by Íris Abravanel, with collaboration from Jaqueline Vargas and Yoya Wursch, and directed by Del Rangel, the telenovela stars Day Mesquita, Daniel Alvim, Elaine Cristina, Marcos Winter, Thaís Pacholek, and Zé Carlos Machado. Os Ossos do Barão is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from April 28 to September 8, 1997. It is an adaptation of Jorge Andrade's 1963 play of the same name, adapted for television by Walter George Durst, with collaboration from Duca Rachid, Mário Teixeira, and Marcos Lazarini. The telenovela stars Ana Paula Arósio, Tarcísio Filho, Juca de Oliveira, Othon Bastos, and Leonardo Villar. It is a Brazilian adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Esmeralda (1997), itself based on the original story by Delia Fiallo. Adapted by Henrique Zambelli and Rogério Garcia, the telenovela stars Bianca Castanho and Cláudio Lins. The story follows Esmeralda, a young woman who has been blind since birth after being accidentally switched with another baby shortly after her birth. Pequena Travessa is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from November 4, 2002, to April 15, 2003. It is an adaptation of the Mexican telenovela Mi pequeña traviesa, based on the original Argentine story Me llaman Gorrión by Abel Santa Cruz. Adapted by Rogério Garcia, with collaboration from Ecila Pedroso and Simoni Boer, the telenovela stars Bianca Rinaldi and Rodrigo Veronese. The story follows Júlia, a determined young woman who is forced to put aside her dream of attending college after her father is left paralyzed in an accident. Disguising herself as a boy to find work and support her family, she secretly sleeps inside a department store because she cannot afford a place to live. Maria Esperança is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from March 26 to August 7, 2007. It is a Brazilian adaptation of the Mexican telenovela María Mercedes (1992), created by Valentín Pimstein and based on the original story Enamorada by Inés Rodena. Adapted by Yves Dumont, with text supervision by Henrique Zambelli and Thereza di Giácomo, the telenovela stars Bárbara Paz and Ricardo Ramory. The story follows Maria, a humble young woman who sells flowers on the streets to support her family.
