Zaten filmin özgün adı olan "I Vitelloni" fazla irileşmiş, büyümüş ancak halâ verim alınamayan dana anlamına gelmektedir ve bu filmden sonra İtalyanca argosuna girmiş bir kelimedir. Filmdeki gençlerin de, aslında yaşları hayli ilerlemiş olmasına rağmen ortada henüz ürettikleri bir şey yoktur.
