Cannes Film Festivali’nin en çok ses getiren filmlerinden Emilia Peréz danstan şarkıya, suçtan uyuşturucuya, melodramdan pembe diziye ve narkotik gerilime uzanıyor. Bu cesur ve sıradışı müzikal polisiye, hak ettiği takdiri hiç görmeden çalıştığı büyük firmada, adaletten çok suçluları aklamayı gözeten avukat Rita’yı izliyor. Rita’nın aradığı kurtuluş, beklemediği bir yerden gelir: Meksika’nın en güçlü uyuşturucu kartellerinden birinin lideri Manitas, yıllardır hazırlıklarını sürdürdüğü planını gizlice gerçekleştirmesine yardımcı olması için Rita’yı işe alır. Manitas cinsiyet uyum operasyonu geçirecektir.
