Yönetmen Mikhalkov’un üçlemesinin bu son bölümünde, İkinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında ihanete uğrayıp, esir kampında vatan hainliği iddiasıyla idam edilmekten kurtulan Albay Kotov, savaşın bitmesiyle eve döner. Ne var ki, hiçbir şey eskisi gibi değildir. Kotov, bu kez de ismi, onuru ve aşkı için savaşmak zorundadır.

Savaşın parçaladığı ulus ve hatta eski düşmanlar bile vatanlarını savunmak için birlikte savaşmaktadırlar. İnsanlar zafere ulaşmak için birleşirler.

Young prince Aleksandr has to hold out against two enemies - the Horde in the east and the Teutonic order and Sweden in the west. He discovers that some boyars are plotting against him and are ready to betray Novgorod to the Swedes and the Germans to boost their trade. Meanwhile, his best friend falls under suspicion, as somebody tries to poison the young prince at his own wedding feast. Aleksandr has no way out - to defend his people against the invaders and to find the true poisoner.

The main characters are above the law. They are a group of police investigators wallowed in criminal activities. But the criminal scheme worked out by the experienced d team begins to fail. There appears to be a mole reporting directly to FSB. When Pepl finds himself in a life threatening situation he starts thinking about the existence for the first time ever. Once he begins to think he can not go back to his former self. The team begins to suspect that he is a mole. The former coworkers turn into mortal enemies.

In this TV-series the events of the beginning of the 20th century in Russia are highlighted. Revolutioners, terrorists, spies - and investigator Putilovskii and his team fight them as best they can.
