Fakat kadın, en sevdiği fotoroman dergisindeki bir karakteri, rüyalarında gördüğü “Beyaz Şeyh”i aramak için kaçar. Ivan otelde dinlenirken, Wanda, senoryaya ulaşır ve tiyatro kumpanyasıyla beraber birkaç sahne çekmek için Fregene’ye doğru yola koyulur. Bu sayede kadın acımasızca ve sıkıcı bir şekilde kur yapıp kendisiyle bir sahneyi paylaşması için onu zorlayacak olan Şeyhle tanışır. Önceleri onun dayanılmaz hareketlerine katlanır, fakat daha sonraları bu adamın vasat ve yapmacık olduğunu fark eder ve Roma’ya geri döner. Kocasının yüzüne bakacak cesareti olmadığı için bu utançtan kurtulmak ister ve intihar etmeye kalkışır ancak başarılı olamaz.
