A vicious group of strangers gather to divvy up the spoils of a train robbery, while an ace detective pursues hot on their trail. As the bandits realize they may not be strangers after all, the detective unearths a deadly conspiracy at the heart of their crime.

At age 15, Orah Dokubo killed a man in Nigeria before fleeing Africa with her infant son. Seventeen years later, Orah is an illegal immigrant in Canada and working as a taxi driver for an attorney and his high-profile Nigerian client, Bami Hazar, who are both involved in international money laundering. After Hazar orders the murder of Orah’s son, she begins a revenge spree to bring Hazar to justice and has to resort to violence to settle the score when all legal options fail.

Jean is the provider and (over)protector of her two teen children, Tamika and Tristin, and begrudgingly lives with her mother in a crowded Lawrence Heights apartment complex. Despite the kids learning to become more self-sufficient, Jean’s vision is too clouded by the past to see that they're growing. She is haunted by violence in both their past and their present, and must help her children cope. Expertly using sound and flashbacks to construct a layered and full portrait of this woman's life, Chapman reveals the trials and tribulations that women in Jean’s family carry with them.

In the near future, four foster kids encounter an alien being that travels the galaxy collecting the last animal of any species before they become extinct. After saving the final elephant, an accident causes the alien ship to crash into the foster kids' farm. Now its up to Johnny, Tabby, Finn and Julia to fix the alien's ship and get it and its invaluable cargo off of Earth before government agents find and capture them all.
