Film6.4DramTarihThe King of Kings is the Greatest Story Ever Told as only Cecil B. DeMille could tell it. In 1927, working with one of the biggest budgets in Hollywood history, DeMille spun the life and Passion of Christ into a silent-era blockbuster. Featuring text drawn directly from the Bible, a cast of thousands, and the great showman’s singular cinematic bag of tricks, The King of Kings is at once spectacular and deeply reverent—part Gospel, part Technicolor epic.

Film7.5KomediRomantikBuster Keaton’ın, daha ünlü filmi The General (General, 1927) kadar iyi sayılabilecek, Güneylilerin töreleri üzerine yaptığı usta işi bir taşlama olan Our Hospitality (Konukseverliğimiz), iki aile arasında kökleri eskilere uzanan bir kan davasının saçma cinayetler tarihini anlatan nefis canlandırılmış dramatik bir giriş bölümüyle başlıyor. Bunu asıl öykü izliyor: Buster’ın canlandırdığı Willie McKay, 20’li yaşlarında, New York’ta büyümüş ve kasabasına dönen (ilkel bir trende geçen müthiş komik bir yolculukla) saf bir gençtir. Yolculuk sırasında tanışıp hoşlandığı genç kızla (kanını dökmeye hâlâ yeminli ailenin kızı çıkınca) yakınlaşması yüzünden canından olma tehlikesiyle karşılaşır ve içinden çıkılmaz bir duruma düşer; öte yandan düşmanlarının Güneyli konukseverliği, çatılarının altında olduğu sürece kendisine adabınca davranılmasını gerektirmektedir.
