Film, genç kadının 1937-1957 yılları arasındaki hayatını üniversite yıllarından itibaren, atış yeteneğinin keşfedilişini, eğitime alınışını, savaştaki günlerini, başarılarını, aşklarını ve dönemin Amerikan Başkanı Roosevelt'in eşi ile olan sıcak yakınlığını karışık kurgu ile bize aktarıyor.

Young doctor Irina Mikhaylovna works in Soviet province and has to hire ex-con Lyuba as baby tender for her daughter. When anti-Semitic company starts in Soviet Union and danger is threatening Irina, Lyuba stays her only devoted friend.
