  1940 yılında Fransa’da II. Dünya Savaşı’nın ilk işgalleri yaşanmaktadır. Genç ve güzel bir kız olan Lucile Angellier, üvey annesinin evde gözetiminde, savaşta esir düşen babasından haber almak için beklemektedir. Bir yandan Paris’ten gelen savaş mültecileri küçük kasabaya yerleşmeye çalışırken, diğer yandan Alman askerleri kasabalıların evlerini bir bir işgal etmeye başlar. Lucile evlerine yerleşen Bruno von Falk adlı yakışıklı askerden, başlarda hiç hoşlanmaz ve kendisini geri çeker. Fakat günler ilerledikçe iki genç arasında aşka sürüklenen bir çekim oluşur. Ama karşılarında savaşın en trajik yüzü durmaktadır.
