1973 yılında Şili’de Pinochet rejimi, Marksist Salvadore Allande’yi Latin Amerika’yı yıllardır bir patron gibi yöneten ABD’nin yardımıyla devirip hükümeti ele geçirir. Hükümet, Allande destekçilerini bir bir yakalayıp “Colonia Dignidad” adında ormanın ortasında, işkence çektirilen bir toplama kampına götürür. Fotoğrafçı Daniel (Daniel Brühl) da tutuklanan destekçilerden birisidir. Daniel’ın sevgilisi hostes Lena (Emma Watson), öncelikle, sevgilisinin de içinde yer aldığı sosyalist gruptan yardım bekler, destek görmez. Uluslararası Af Örgütü’ne başvurur, fakat hiçbir çözüm sunmazlar. Lena için tek çare Colonia Dignidad’a giderek sevgilisini oradan kurtarmaktır.

Seitz has been abusing his underage daughter for years and is the father of her first child. He is a brutal perpetrator of violence and has several relevant criminal records. When Tanja confides in her new boyfriend, he persuades her to go to the police. Seitz is sentenced and threatens to beat Tanja to death while still in court. Tanja and her boyfriend have long been married and have children of their own when, after seven years, fate catches up with them again: they are terrified of Seitz, who is soon released from prison and threatens revenge. Tanja and her family turn to the authorities in vain. They can only intervene if there is a concrete threat. But then it will be too late, Tanja fears. Too late for her children and herself. Together, the family gets a rifle...

The title of the film, set in Luxembourg in 1942, during the Nazi occupation, amalgamates the words Schacko (helmet) and chapeau claque (opera hat). The village, in which it is set, has not yet been feeling the effects of the war at this point.

Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. In Bruges, some 200 cyclists and their entourage are getting ready for the 94th Tour of Flanders. A sea of supporters awaits them along the route, while millions more follow Flanders' finest on radio or TV. With the race as a backdrop, De ronde tells the story of a number of people who, like the cyclists, have everything to gain or lose today. The series originally had nine episodes, but these were recut to seven episodes for the DVD.
