Dizide olaylar, zengin ve soylu bir aileden gelen Caroline'in birden bire beş parasız kalması ve Max ile aynı restoranda çalışmaya başlaması sonrasında kurdukları arkadaşlık üzerine kurulmuştur. Karakter olarak Max, kendi yağıyla kavrulan, gündüzleri bebek bakıcılığı, akşamları da garsonluk yaparak geçimini sağlayan, sokak kültürüyle yetişmiş, lafını esirgemeyen, tabiri caizse lafı gediğine oturtan bir kızdır. Max'in aksine Caroline ise girişimciliği ön planda olan, 1'i 2 yapmanın yollarını arayan, daha çok mantığını kullanan bir kızdır ve onunda önerisiyle aldıkları karar sonucu kendi "çörek dükkânlarını" açmaya karar verirler. Bunun için yaptıkları hesap sonucunda ortalama 250.000 dolara sahip olmaları gerekmektedir ve nihayetinde, her bölümün sonunda elde ettikleri toplam kazancın bir çetelesi izleyiciye sunulmaktadır.
