Pekka arrives back to his home village of Jerusalem to celebrate the last wedding of the village. His own marriage seems to have reached a dead end. The people of the village gather to prepare for the event, and the bitter spectrum of all human life, with its joys and sorrows, is condensed into one summer's day.

A boy dreams to become like his ski jumping idol Jari Puikkonen. However, his parents are worried because he neglects the school. One day while going on practice, he rescues a baby left in a car with no parking brake hooked back up. The baby happens to be Puikkonen's son.

The show follows Helsinki central police department investigator Veli Miettinen and lawyer Mira Kataja as they tackle with personal life problems and try to keep their relationship purely professional.

Iso Herneinen's mistress is dead and grief lives in Jopi's heart. Jopi's grown-up boys are hardly happy. The eldest boy fell in love with the house maid. The middle one is, according to Jopi, a strange modern product. The youngest does not enjoy working or working at home. The three-part TV series tells about the peasant's collapse in years of depression.
