Menajeri John Lennon tarafından kendisine tam 40 yıl önce yazılmış olan bir mektup eline ulaştığı gün, son kez beste yapmaya ve geçmişte hem yapmay fırsat bulamadığı hem de yapmaktan pişmanlık duyduğu şeyleri telafi etmeye karar verir. Bir yandan ailesiyle arasında gevşeyen bağları güçlendirmeyi hedefleyen Danny, diğer yandan da kaldığı oteldeki görevliyle yakınlaşmaya başlar.

Bu yanlışlıklar komedisini, "Yeni Hollywood" yönetmenlerinden, aynı zamanda bir aktör, yapımcı, senarist, eleştirmen ve film tarihçisi de olan Peter Bogdanovich yönetmiştir. Filmin yapımcılığını da üstlenen Bogdanovich, aynı zamanda Buck Henry, David Newman ve Robert Benton'la birlikte filmin senaryosunu da yazmıştır.
