II. Dünya Savaşı'nda Alman savaş gücü, Brest kalesine gözleri dönmüş şekilde taaruza geçer. Kaleyi savunmak bir kaç cesur kahramana kalır ve onlarda ellerinden geleni yapar. 22 Haziran 1941 sabahında başlayan saldırı günlerce sürer. Kale içerisinde çaresiz, aç , susuz kalan askerler kanlarının son damlasına kadar savaşır.

Yönetmenin (Pavel Lungin) en son çıkardığı film olan Tsar, Aleksei ıvanov senaristliğinde yapılmıştır. Yönetmeni ise Büyük Patron filmiyle sizlere hatırlatabiliriz. Konuya gelmek gerekirse, Rusya’da kaos vardır. Bu belirtiler İvan (Pyotr Mamonov) için kıyamet gününün yaklaşması belirtileridir. Mutlak gücü elinde bulunduran ve kutsal bir görevi olduğuna kâni olan İvan, hükümdarlığı altındakilere tam anlamıyla kan kusturmaktadır İvan’ın yakın arkadaşı olan dinî lider Psikopos Philip (Oleg Yankovskiy), Çar’ın zorba yönetimine isyan eder. Artyom Mazunov ise filmde aldığı rol ile oynayış tarzı normalinden ilginç gözüküyor. Aynı kanıyı Aleksandr Ilyin içinde söyleyebiliriz.

The plot centers on the people who began to form underground groups from the very first days of the occupation of Minsk: oil engineer Isa Kazinets, soldier Ivan Kabushkin, student journalist Vladimir Omelianuk, medical professor Yevgeny Klumov, party and Soviet worker Sergey Blagorazumov, and others. Their main weapon was their hatred of the occupiers. Soon, the underground fighters managed to establish contact with the partisans, and they began to plan joint operations.

The location is the Belarusian forests, close to the Polish border, during Operation Bagration in the summer of 1944. The Red Army is preparing to advance, but on one segment of the front there are two serious obstacles: an unnamed hill, and a highly skilled German sniper. The local commander, Major Inozemtsev, suspects that the hill is a trap.

In the 1920s, the Soviets arrived in the remote areas of the Polesie Marshes. However, the wealthy landowners of the village of Kureny had no intention of giving their land to the communists. The kulaks intimidated the people. But the peasants themselves took the first step: the entire village set out to build a causeway across the marsh to a new life.

The film is based on real events described in the documentary novel by Soviet writer Ivan Novikov, Ruins Shoot Point Blank, dedicated to the heroes of the Minsk underground during the WWII.
