The film takes a humorous view on all the basic philosophical questions we have heard so many times but that we have yet to find the answers to.

Ultimately Luisa's husband demonstratively commits suicide. Erika accidentally kills her boss in self-defense... The women blame themselves for all these failures, and that has got to change. Both have to grow up and start living again. Perhaps even together.

Upset by the situation, Rudolf is torn between his determination to settle down in a peaceful monogamous relationship and the temptations served up daily by the notorious reveler and womanizer Arnošt. And as if a hangover weren't punishment enough, the gentlemen also have to deal with the obnoxious and capable owner of the neighboring hotel, whom they somehow accidentally declared war on.
