1994 yılında ER yayına başladığında televizyon tarihinin geri dönülmez evrelerinden biri de başladı. Gösterime girdiği ilk sezon ABD’de tüm reytingleri alt üst eden dizi daha önceki hastane dizilerinin başaramadığını başararak türe yepyeni bir atılım getirdi. İkincil öykü çıkış noktası ise hastaların yaşadığı problemler.
